Truro Swap Shop

Swap Shop Hours:

Volunteer shifts to staff the Swap Shop are currently available; please visit the Swap Shop to sign up.  Shifts are available in two hour increments.

Items Accepted

In addition to the single stream items listed in the Recycling Guide, the following items are also accepted at the Truro Transfer Station.

Scrap Metal

Scrap metal brought to the transfer station is recycled by Excel Recycling.

Food Waste

Residential food waste only. No commercial businesses. If you bring your food waste to the transfer station in a "compostable" plastic bag, please make sure it is not a "commercial-grade" compostable bag. They should be the type of bag suitable for backyard composting.

Light Bulbs

We accept fluorescent and compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) only.

Mattresses

$45 per mattress. The mattresses you bring to the transfer station will be deconstructed into their various components (wood, fiber, metal) by Ace Mattress Recycling.

Mercury

Thermostats, thermometers, etc. Bring to the gate house for safe disposal.

Oil

Paint

We accept latex paint only. Residents may also pickup unused latex paint at the transfer station. Latex paint is recycled by RECOLOR.

Propane Tanks

$15 per tank. 1 lb. tanks are free. Propane tanks do not need to be empty to be dropped off.

Toilets

$20 per toilet.

Yard Waste

Grass clippings, leaves, brush. Nothing greater than 1" in diameter.
